ABOUT

It was during a resourcing trip to Europe that her true passion for painting was born. Inspired by Art Nouveau and the works of the Symbolists and the Nabis, Isabelle Langevin found her own “through the looking-glass” experience in this symbolically charged, ornamental atmosphere. Drawing naturally on her experience in illustration and decorative art, she is able to bring her unique world to life. Fascinated by the human being, she seeks to capture the inner tension that emanates from them; in solitude, in their relationship with others, and with the living world. Her characters are set in nature or in interior spaces. For the artist, the subject is above all a pretext for expressing a subtle atmosphere. In this sense, her use of color is her primary motivation. And then there is light, forms, composition, and the often truncated point of view; all means of conveying an interpretation that diverges slightly from reality, one that is both graphic and organic. She works primarily in acrylic; on paper, canvas, or wood. She transforms the inspiration from her daydreams, sketches, and photographs into a personal and meaningful vision. Through the beauty of everyday objects, of which we often only see fragments, Isabelle expresses particles of truth.
Isabelle Langevin is a professional member of the RAAV and the Institut des arts figuratifs.
She gives private drawing and painting lessons.
